What is the difference in the engines campaired to the early models other than the dipstick .. it has a dipstick like a automobile where as my older models 51,52,53,54,55 m38a1s have a tube with a dipstick... I didnt want to tear the 63 down and wnd up buying other parts for a totaly different f-head engine.. and where can I get info on this perticular model .. Thanks Guys...

806279 is the correct casting number for the M38A1. Based on your description you have an early utility, wagon or jeepster F134 which used the 124 tooth flywheel and flat nosed starter from 1948 to 1950 along with the early bellhousing. You can make your engine look similar to a real M38A1 engine but it will always be detectable as a very early F134.Can you email me some good digital photos of the engine from all sides close up? _________________ Wes K
