I am looking for the correct generator to regulator cable for my M38. Not sure what the correct length is. I have an M38A1 cable for trade if needed. Can also trade a fording exhaust pipe too.

Dave, i've got a spare 36" cable if that helps but it's way long.
The cable in my M-38 is in the 22-24 inch range.

I think I may already have a 36" cable from an M151. Does your cable have the black coating on it? Let me see if I can turn up the correct cable first. They are hard to find.

ORD 9 51 TI# B37559, ORD# 7762732, WO# 801191 (TI = Titeflex Inc)
ORD 9 55 TI# B36834, ORD# 7539500

Both the above cable assy's were off the Army shelf and had already been initially used on the G742 family of trucks. About 1 1/8" dia x about 36" long.

Here's a couple more threads on the subject:

http://www.g503.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=8633

Current evidence indicates that neither of the M38 cables were ever used on the M38A1 at the factory.

Rick and Dave,
Can you post photos of your cables? Can you post any numbers found on the cables?

I know well what you mean! I lost over a thousand photos when they dumped the web site.

Thanks guys. I'll check out the listed references. I will post some pictures and part numbers this week end of the cables that I have. It's kind of a bummer. I am sure that I had the correct 24" cable at one time or another. Probably sold it on Ebay.

Both the 3' and the 2' cable have 7722367 on one end and 7722368 on the other. The number is on the sleeve that houses the pins so i suppose its the pt# of the sleeve itself? I find no other markings on them.

The 3' cable was on the truck when i got it, the 2' cable was in a box of spare parts. During resto i switched it out for the 2" cable because i thought it a better fit..

My gut says the 36" is the early cable and the 24" is the later but both cables were only meant for the M38.
