I have not found any manual references for it. Remember the Army in their cost cutting agreements with Willys in 1952 discontinued the receptacle installation on the late M38 and all the M38A1's. So the receptacle does not appear in the M38A1 manual's text or illustrations.

The only place that comes to mind is the Bulletin for installing the Arctic Powerplant Heater kit. If you can find a copy of that it will probably show the installation of the slave cables.

Greetings Circleburner

With Wes's permission, let me post a link to the 503 from 2006 that pertains to your question.

http://www.g503.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=71906

That is the guidance I used to install one on our A1. I was lucky with our 151A2 as it already had a hot water heater and cable adapter installed when we bought it.

Makes a great place to plug in a Solargizer.

Regards Don

The photos that are missing use to be found on our downloads page in the M38/M38A1 section under change 3 for TM 9-8015-2 which covers the addition of the 100 amp alternator system and radio power connections. We'll have to try to get it reloaded.

I am really hoping to find a copy of the Arctic Powerplant Heater kit so I can find a more direct reference. The C3 reference only addresses the radio power ground and Plus cables and I am assuming the frame ground point showed there for the radio ground under the passenger side tool box would also be used for the slave cable ground.
