Hi-

Is there a difference in bottom seat springs for the M38 and CJ3A? Question

I want to make sure to get the right springs to be consistent with a motor pool class restoration.

Thanks-

If it helps any, my M38 bottom seat springs (fronts) are about 4".
The Beachwood canvas site states 5" for their cushions (take into account about 1" of horsehair and 4" springs are about right).

Beachwood state 5" for the CJ3A front seat cushions on page 3 here:
https://www.beachwoodcanvas.com/images/catalog-pdf/pages%2046-58.pdf

Maybe someone with a CJ3A can confirm either the spring height or seat cover height?

For reference, here's a photo of the M38 style:

Bob W. does not list it as one of the differences in his list at:
http://www.cj3apage.com/index/m38.htm

However the parts lists show them as different:
M38 = 671960
CJ3A = 663558

Thanks for the info. Interesting picture with the top frame around the springs with the extended piece hanging off of the right side. This info will help me get going in the right direction.

Just to clarify, that extended piece is at the back of the seat when fitted to the jeep (i.e. the "cheek" end, not the "knee" end Wink ).

I edited the picture to suit.
