I just got this girl on a trade and I know nothing about her.
The only plate I've found so far is this one:

With a little Photoshop magic I got this:

I've taken a few preliminary photos and made them available at the following link: https://www.dropbox.com/sc/xa2lsmitypcosex/ozmxGR6LVh
Any help in identifying what I've got here would be greatly appreciated. _________________

looks like an engine rebuild plate. not going to tell a lot. The important plates should have been on the large blank area of dash passenger side. there may be a tag on the passenger wheel well front end behind the seat.
What were you told this is? it does appear to be an M38 to my eyes. Wes will know more for sure.
This image shows where the engine serial should be, the bit that says no oval may be oval and have a serial or not, top of the front deck is a likely place as well. It depends on the exact engine you have.

Thanks for the response - I work nights so I'm headed to bed but I'll look this afternoon.
The PO sent me some additional info he found on his bill of sale from the PPO.
It says it's a 1951 M38 with a serial #33796 _________________

The oil canister on the fender extension is a new one. I've seen them in different locations in the engine bay but never there. _________________ Brett
