Was flicking through the Netflix yesterday and watch "The day the earth stood still" Not bad for a 1951 movie but of more interest was the number and variety of MVs, everything from a couple of hellcats (they actually fish tailed them coming out of the base) to jeeps and trucks, even a couple of those old dodge things. It is all black and white but there are some night scenes where you can see the lights and such. Never know maybe someone's jeep is in it
I went through, it was hard to get numbers as most of the time they were blurred and they had a blank jeep for several of the stills however, hood number 20725595 was used fro several shots it's bumper is marked 340 AAA then F with a right facing triangle 2. They are MB or GPW but still interesting I think. Also got two partial numbers 207?228? and 207366??. _________________ Carievale Saskatchewan Canada

I always liked the WWII Weasel when they were used as a "lunar rover" in the old sci-fi movies.
Locally to me there are several large military movie vehicle vendors that have supplied Hollywood for many years for movies we have all seen. It is always fun to see what new MV they have acquired.
"The Big Lift" (1950) is a realistic film based in Post War Berlin about the Berlin Air Lift that has lots of jeeps and other WWII vehicles. The real draw to the film though is the scenery as it was filmed on location in the ruins of Berlin. Very sobering. It is an amazing movie to see today.

This was not in any movies but I was just at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Orlando today and around the Indian Jones movie show they had a bunch of M37s. All looked in decent shape for sitting outside. They also had a WC-4 Dodge 1/2 Ton 4x4 in good shape sitting out. People were giving me funny looks as I was looking all over the trucks rather then the attractions! _________________ TJ

In the early 1980's during the filming of "Biloxi Blues" movie, a fellow member of our local MVCC (now MVPA) chapter was in charge of arranging military vehicles. My brother and I supplied several. They don't get much screen time. I rented my M38 (and I got a few hundred dollars for it which was greatly appreciated because I was a starving college student). They tried a few things to make it "appear" to be more like a WWII vintage jeep. Another case of "no one will know the difference."

Love that movie. The film speed they used to capture the chase scene, make it appear as if the jeeps are
doing 100mph through the Capital streets though. lol _________________ David M.
