I found this video on Youtube. The engine has a gauge screwed in to the manifold T. I assume this a pressure or vacuum gauge? I haven't come across any posts here where anyone mentioned using this method, only a mechanical oil pressure and coolant temp setup which I am in the midst of procuring for my startup this spring.
That is just a temporary setup using a Vac gauge to monitor the engine during it's test run. If you feel the need for a full time Vac gauge installation you can do it either under the hood or under the dash.
The attachment and use of the vac gauge for tests and troubleshooting is shown in detail in your TM 9-8012 Par 79, pages 78 thru 81.
Shops that do a lot of power plant testing will often have a locally fabricated test box or panel with a complete set of direct mechanical gauges for monitoring all engine operating parameters. (Vacuum, fuel pressure, water temp, RPM, dwell, oil press, volts and amps to name a few) Might even include compression tester and leak down tester. _________________ Wes K
