Hi everyone, I recently found a photo of a M38 in Germany around 1955. What I thought was interesting was it had some type of lisence plate. It looks like below the number it says US Army. Why would a Military jeep, on duty, need a license plate?
Is it like the other issued plates like this...
Just thought it was interesting as I thinking about bumper numbering my M38 as being from the 14th A C. Thanks for any insight. _________________ Paul

Proper ID'ing of military vehicles in a foreign country depends on the forces in place agreement worked out with that government. It is not uncommon to see streetable military vehicles with some type of license plate when used on public roads in foreign countries. _________________ Wes K
