What does the stenciling say and where is it located? What is the height of the letters and numbers? Very cool. |

i can make out:

That's the wrong tank for your Jeep------disgusting! Send it to me and I'll get rid of it. I have one with the correct patina---red mush. Nice pictures, Thanks for the post, John |

Rick,
It looks like your screw holes go all the way through the ring and into the top of the tank. I think I see the floor in one pic. Is that correct?
Also, is the top of the tank metal or lip even with the top of the mounting ring?
I've had mine "repaired" twice to raise and level the ring and it still isn't. I'm afraid that even if I install a thicker gasket that it will leak.
Can I "shave" off the offending raised area of the tank?
I already have 65 bucks in soldering repairs and do not believe the ability to do a good repair exists in this part of Texas. _________________ Brian

That was five years back and if I did in fact measure the tank I sure as heck cant find the paperwork now.
