I have a large tube that can extend into the fuel tank neck of my M38A1. It holds the conical filter. It was solid rust, so I soaked it in muriatic acid and it cleaned up well. If I gun-kote it and bake it at 350 will it be ok to use in the fuel tank? Or is there anything else I can do to it to keep it from rusting that won't mess with the fuel? thanks _________________ 1952 M38A1 1969 M416

Those tanks and internal parts came unpainted for a reason. It has been half a century and the bits are getting rusty enough to replace. That is what I would do, just replace the filler extension tube or fabricate a new one in stainless. _________________ Wes K
