Hi Guys,
I've seen more than a few used fuel pumps for the M38 and A1 that have a significantly worn foot.........worn on the flat side of the foot that contacts the camshaft. When folks rebuild theee pumps do they machine the worn side of the foot flat again (and re-heat treat the surface if it's a hardened surface)? Reason I ask is I've never seen just the foot being sold by anyone, and there's no new foot in the pump rebuild kits I've seen. So how is a worn foot dealt with these days?
If you want the pump to sustain the correct pressure you must restore the foot to it's original height or replace it. Have you looked up the foot's part number yet and researched it's availability? _________________ Wes K

I checked a few places and they had none. AJP has the foot (called a rocker arm) from the first pump listed in the ORD and they claim it's interchangeable with the foot used on the latter 2 pumps. I have my doubts.....but one is on the way.....so we'll see.
I would think I could machine the worn foot flat again and then take some material out of the pump spacer to move the foot closer to the cam to compensate for the material removed. That assumes the foot isn't hardened..........I'll have to check that.
I'll check with the other vendors when I get some time and maybe I'll give Then And Now a call to see what they do.

On a related note an excessively worn FP foot (rocker arm) may cause or may have been caused by an excessively worn cam lobe-something to consider.. _________________ keep 'em rollin'

Yes, that's the PN for the rocker. The other two earlier A1 pumps (9810 and 4069) use the same rocker arm (PN WO-118476), which is what I found to be still available out there. When I called AJP they indicated that the two rocker arm PNs were interchangeable. I've got an 118476 on its way and I may have found a 120932 (will confirm today). When I get them side by side I'll compare.
