There are many differences. Too many to itemize here. Suffice it to say they will not interchange. The windshield height and angle is the key. The M38 and A1 will not interchange canvas but bows will swap. The civvy tops use a different bow system and some a different door attachment. This gets even muddier when you compare civilian jeep factory canvas tops to civilian jeep aftermarket tops _________________ Wes K

Ask him to fit it on your jeep, no better way to check it out !

If it is really a military issue top it will have Ordnance stock numbers or Federal Stock Numbers stamped on it somewhere. Get any numbers from the top and post them here. Ordnance stock numbers that start with G-503-xxxxxx are WWII MB/GPW, G740-xxxxxxx are M38, G-758-xxxxxxx are M38A1 or M170 and G-843-xxxxxxx are M151. Federal Stock Numbers (FSN) or National Stock Numbers (NSN) you will have to podt the whole set of numbers here for a translation. Try posting photos of the top as well. _________________ Wes K
