I was in a trip with my jeep.the other day i started to go back to my house. After i started the engine in the first 20 meters the pressure drop to near zero with the engine cold.I shut the engine off and restarted. The pressure was normal at 40 psi.Again make small distance and the press drop again. The same thing stop-start make small distance the same problem.Suddenly fixed and returned to home.
I have a mechanical press gauge stewart warner.Checked the line and the gauge. No problem there.
But the problem is the same. With the pressure at near zero suddenly goes up to 40 and drop to 10 and anagin 40 and 0.
Is this a oil pump or something else?
If you are certain the gage readings are correct then the next place to look is the oil pressure relief valve.
Small particles can get stuck in the valve and cause the pressure loss and then when they are flushed out the pressure rises again. _________________ Wes K

Are you certain the floating pickup screen in the sump is floating? _________________ Wes K

I have a question regarding location of oil pressure tubing to the sender. I notices that the manuals have the tubing running from a socket on the lower drivers side of the engine around the rear of the engine to the sender on the passenger side if the engine just below the temp sender. My engine has the tubing arrising from a socket on the upper rear of the engine to the drivers side just below crankshaft to cylinder head oil line as seen on page 25 of the 8015-1 (fig 5) and page 26 (fig 6). Right now I only get a slight lifting of the gauge needle on energizing the gauges. Is this outlet on a low preassure side?
