So, it was kinda nice today for a little while at least, and it got some thinner from my dad and started rubbing the hood to see if I could make out any numbers. Here is what I found: US ARMY 201020461
Now I don't know if that is the right amout of numbers but it is all I could see.
This is what I found on the bumperetts in the back: 1 or 8A 3F GP HQ 19 or 13
I am a little confused cause I have a 1 that is painted over an 8 was it common for a vehicle to switch armys?
Wes and some of the others can help you with this.
I think it was fairly common for a vehicle to switch to different branches of the military and get numbers reassigned. _________________ Ryan Miller

That number is about right for a Jul 1954 M38A1 in the MD74xxx serial range. In the summer of 1954 the Army switched to the 2A xxxx system.
Not at all uncommon for equipment and/or units to switch Army of assignment. _________________ Wes K
