Hi All,

I have a M1 Carbine that I have been interested in using as a display item for my M38A1. I know there isn't any formal rifle holder for the A1, but was curious if the military did any sort of field modifications and made there own, or stuck a holder from a different jeep on there (Say M151s if used in Vietnam, or M38s in Korea). Or did the military just throw their rifles in the back with no holder?

Thanks!

They used the military standard floor mount which was braced to the dash at the top.

This is a M37 but the M38A1 used the top bracket fastened directly to the dash and the bottom butt rest directly to the floor.

Yes Dick. I used it to illustrate the rifle support which actually clamped to the rifle and not the tall adapter bracket that connects the clamp assembly to the dash. I have a photo somewhere of this rifle stowage bracket installed in an m38A1 but I can't find it where the clamp assembly bolts directly to the dash and the but socket bolts directly to the floor.

Wes, I only mentioned it was an M37 because you called it a M151 in your discussion. Dick

You are correct, here's the correct photo and I corrected the narrative above.

M151 rifle stowage left side of dash.

Any idea where to find that bracket? Or what to ask for if I call Midwest Military? Ask for a M151 rifle bracket?

Av.

Wes --

For the A1, does the bracket go on the passanger side, or drivers side? Im assuming passanger side, but the reason I ask is because the 151 looks like its on the drivers, while the M37 is on the passangers.

Thanks!

It goes where it will fit. The left side is out due to the glove box. Center is out due to gages and tranny hump and data plates. All that's left is the far right side.

Guys. Look at the M38a1 on the Febuary 3rd Danish Jeep post.

I believe I spy a WW2 style rifle rack in an M38a1. Thought it was neat. Carry on.

Here's a better link:
