Just finished watching the Battle of the Bulge movie (1965) with Henry Fonda et al. I had to laugh when I figured that most - if not all - of the jeeps in the movie were M38s. Also laughed when I realized that the Nazi's were using M3 half tracks. That's Hollywood.....

I read your post right as I was watching Operation Petticoat which is set in the Philippines in 1941 but has a CJ2A and a GPW in it!

I don't remember the name of the movie with John Wayne, during the attack on Pearl Harbor, they pulled up to the dock in a M151.

There's a M-38 in "Kellys Heros" set in WWII. It doesn't bug me that the MVs are period incorrect, I just like seeing them on the screen..
But I do agree, a M-151 on the dock in 1941 is a bit of a "time machine".

Here's an example of an M38 used in the movie Battle of the Bulge, as well as the Nazi "M3 halftrack." LOL!

Well the Germans did use captured Allied vehicles. One good example was in North Africa, Romel's HQ had captured M3 half tracks and M3 Stuarts.

I think Battle of the Bulge is one of the movies where the M1 Garands have the rear sights removed so you can see the actors. Kind of funny, I always thought.

I thought I would bring up something about a jeep I saw in a particular episode of MASH. I am not sure that anyone has seen or can get pics of the jeep used in the episode of when Marylyn Monroe was supposedly to attend the 4077th, but there is a couple of scenes where bj is driving a particular M38 jeep. It is not the wrong period jeep, but I thought I saw a M38 with the headlight guards like prototype mc vehicles. If anyone is able to find that image, it would be great to see if it was one of them.

AAAAH! The movie MASH. I love it and Donald Sutherland lives not too far my home. Here is the unforgetable picture of him and Elliott Gould and represents the soul that should animate all collectors of military vehicles ... serious and joyful at the same time.
