The adapter is pressed into the housing at the bottom.
Iím guessing (ducks!) a civvy repair/ replacement with a button on the dash, etc., may use an adapter that is plugged.

The most important thing about the drag kink besides having the correct end forward is the assembly. The two ends do not go together the same way.
