is it correct that the modern gasoline is much more agressive (ethanol) thus much sooner kill the diaphragm in our fuel pumps?

Or/and the reproduction diaphragms are of lesser quality? ...

I went through the TM 9-8015-1 "Enginge & Clutch".
Installation of the pulley is mentioned on page 124 - but does not mention the torque for the nut.

I "tested" by holding a lighter to the dipstick before and after an engine run - no inflammable reaction...

Is that a "valid" test?
