You don't have to be a vet or have someone in the military these days, if I remember a notice from them correctly. But you may need a referral from someone. It doesn't hurt to call them and find out for sure.
Active-duty officers and enlisted personnel.
Children whose eligible parents have or had a USAA auto or property insurance product.1
National Guard and Selected Reserve officers and enlisted personnel.
Officer candidates in commissioning programs (Academy, ROTC, OCS/OTS).
Former military personnel:
Retired officers and enlisted personnel.
Former officers and enlisted personnel who separated from the military on or after Jan. 1, 1996.
Former USAA members who had USAA auto or property insurance.
Call American Collector's directly and ask if you can get a policy. You might not need to have USAA membership to get a policy through them. It's my understanding that they are the preferred company for USAA members with antique vehicles but not owned by, or soley affiliated with, USAA.
There's also JC Taylor. They seemed to have competitive rates when I was researching this a couple years ago. _________________ Tony Morreale
