Well, I got involved in M274 mules, and spent the last 3 years or so working on everybody's mules. I think we rebuilt/restored something like 29 different mules, and I still have three on the books to do next year.

Of the 11 mules in the photo below, Rod and I rebuilt/repaired 10 of them!

My poor old M38 sat in the shead and was only started occasionally, and even that was an effort due to a weak fuel pump. This year, my daughter-in-law wanted to drive a mule in the local Christmas Parade, so I thought I'd follow her in the M38. I had already drained the gas tank and refilled with fresh gas and some staybil, so I thought I was good to go...wrong! The M38 made it to the parade line-up site with no problems, but about 1/2 mile into the actual parade, she quit and would not restart. I went back later that night in a pouring rainstorm and get her onto the trailer and now she is in the shop getting some long overdue maintenance.
Fuel pump, distrubitor rebuild, carb rebuild and a general service to start.

Just thought I'd let you guys know what I've been up to! Hope to start posting on this board again some. As much as I like mules, the M38 is my "first love"!

Nice M38 and trailer. Which radio did you install?

It's an AN/VRC-10 set. I wrote an article on this set and it's components and the installation process back in 2007 that was published in MVPA Army Motors issue number 120:

Chuck,
I'm glad you got your Jeep home OK. We were some drowned rats after the parade, weren't we?
Good article on the radio install. I have a PRC/8 back-pack radio. We should be able to talk if my radio is re-crystaled and tuned on the PRC-10 frequency shouldn't we?
