The Gama goat tail light unit has three bulbs. #1. Large upper, #2 small upper, #3 large lower. Which of these is designed as "Tail light" and "Brake light" and is the small upper a style of blackout???
Currently I have this connected as Tail light on the lower and Brake light on the larger upper but wanted to ask for some input.
Thanks for any clarification.

To save money I used two left hand light fixtures, which I already had on hand. (The fixture that is original to the jeep). And put Gamma Goat lenses on them. And wired the two small bulbs to burn as the running lights and the large of coarse for the brake and turn signal. _________________ Tropical Veteran

Just put the gamma's on mine. Got them from Saturn. Ran the service stop and brake from the trailer recepticle connection since I do not have a trailer. Seperate directionals from a tractor hook up, running 12v directionals the rest is 24v.

Somewhat along the same line... I bought two M38 left hand tail lights (3 wires) to replace the cheap civi lights the po put in my '52 M38. The original harness is still there (2 wires going to the right and 3 to the left), so hooking up the left one will be simple, but how do I wire the right side?
Looking at the wiring diagram on page 214 of TM 9-8012, I presume wire #24 is the same since both sides have it. Does #23 going to the right side serve the same purpose as #21 or #22 (which go to the left side)? If so, do I then just splice #21 or #22 to provide the needed 3rd wire?
Thanks! |

Hey Ken-
I got the Gamma Goat lenses, do you know if I will need to get a lefthand taillight to replace my blackout light, or can I wire that up? And what did you do, I have the military upgrade for the directionals on the way, but they don't really have an install manual, just a wiring diagram. |

Where do you find all this stuff Wes?
So, I need to get an extra left hand taillight, right? |

Wes,
Has been some time since the install but easy with a test light. Using the new lamp fixture was much easier than digging through the old corroded ones and rewiring. Made a splice into the left side "tail" and ran over to the right side, using appropriate connectors and shrink wrap. Bypassed the b/o brake. Works great for my applications.
Increased visibility in traffic for sure.
Don't remember the #s but test light guides one through it.
Thanks for all the help from this forum!

Hi Wes,
I have seen your posts numerous times at a variety of Willys sites. You are knowledgeable and informative. I appreciate this very much. I was searching the web as I am just about to wire up my Gamma Goats to my Willys. I came across this thread. Your wiring diagram will be very helpful to me.
This is an older post, and you may have already gotten the photos you asked for from others, but if not, here are the photos you asked for.
As you look at the photo, the light bulb on the top left is wire #21. The top right light bulb is wire #22 and the lower light bulb has a double tag which reads #460-461.
Hopefully you find this as helpful as you have been to me.
