I am rebuilding a M38 YS carb. and have a question about the metering rod diaphragm spring. What spring to use with diaphragm the short or long spring? And does the spring go behind the diaphragm or in front of it? I have a copy of the TM that I down loaded from this web site and it shows to different ways to install the metering rod spring.
Carb runs ok but will not idle, I hope this it the problem.

Thanks Jim

Spring goes between the lid and the diaphragm. The drawing in the Carb TM is wrong. Use you parts illustration from the M38 ORD 9.

This is Ron F's kit. The top left spring and diaphragm are accellerator pump and the top right are the metering system.

This is the CORRECTEDFig 60 from the Carter Carb TM 8-1826A
