I just purchased a Stevens M416 trailer from to go with my M38A1 and have a few novice questions. The serial number of the 1965 Stevens trailer is 1154. That is what is on the registration and the current data plate, which is not the original. I would like to know if that number is consistent with the year.

Also, the data plate was replaced and the serial number is the only date written on the plate. I would like to know what the other information should look like so that I may begin to figure a way to make it look original. Also, the new plate is riveted on and I would like to know if that is original or was it screwed on.

Any help much appreciated. It is a USMC ordered trailer and the original numbers were supposedly placed back on when refurbished.

In case you are looking...I received some of the information on the G. The trailer, being a USMC differs by having the front side mounted gas cans and the 1/2 inch stock lifting loops on all corners. Also the hand brake is offset to the side and the model is referred to as a 416B2. My serial seems consistent with the year when compared to another 1965 Stevens.

The data plate is not stock and they are not currently available to my knowledge. My plate is generic rather than from the Stevens Company. I will try to locate a replacement in the future.

You can find a lot of help here:

That site lists several 1965 Steven's B-1's starting with 0011 through 0850.

Thanks Wes. I had to create a yahoo account to log in to the group and give a bunch of information I did not want to but that's the way it is these days. All the info is probably available elsewhere anyway. It appears there are 650 members on the group site so it should be helpful. I will know more in 24 hours if they accept my application.
