hey guys , on the front panel of my m100 below the storage box brackets was the ordance stk no. g2-747-7328227 stenciled on the panel. would this be correct if i went back with the number on front panel. did the army do this?. heres what im thinking about marking my trailer.

rear panel- one star above each reflector or one star in the middle
u.s. army
reg#- 0116433

side panels above each reflector- star
side panel between fender front corner
u.s. army
0116433

surfing the web on m100 convention winners i ran across a m100 that was awarded a gold award by the judges. the m100 was mark the way i decribed. let me know what you think. thxs for any input!

Judges will allow any markings or equipment on a motor pool class vehicle that the owner can show evidence that it was actually used or painted that way in service. The normal source for that evidence is period correct photos or manuals/regulations from that period. Not all judges score the same. That trailer may actually have had points deducted for incorrect markings and was such a quality resto that the good points carried him to a win.

Bottom line, if you intend to have it judged document your evidence used to support your claims.

The thing to do is surf the web sites for historically correct period photos. They are not hard to find. Especially in the Life Mag photo repository. Also review unit history web sites.

Supply (Ordnance) stock numbers were not a common thing to paint on a trailer unless it was sitting in the surplus yard.

thxs wesk, the reason i ask about the ord number was because i found the same ord number painted on the original paint. and also on the second coat of paint, in about 1 inch letering and numbers. search the web for pics of these numbers painted on the m100 but came up with zero. may not be correct but im thinking of putting the markings back on, just the way i found it. thats why i was asking for opinions. thxs michael
