My wife's uncle passed a week ago and we have been tasked with preparing a euology of sorts about his life. We have always known that he went to Japan as part of the Army of Occupation and that he was involved in the tragedy that was task Force Smith.....he was seriously wounded in that action and was medi-vac'd back to Japan. His injuries caused him to be discharge from the Army but he was able to re-inlist in the Air Force while still in Japan in order to stay there because he had married a Japanese woman and did not want to be sent back to the States without her. They both returned to the US in approximately 1957 and he was honorably discharged from the Air Force at that time. My question is this......in the picture below I have been able to identify all of the ribbons afixed to his last uniform except the one on the lower row, middle position......it appears to be a field of blue with a small vertical white bar on each end and a slightly larger vertical white bar in the middle. There are three stars located in a horizontal row along the length of the ribbon. Can anyone give me some insight into what this ribbon represents? I have been unable to locate any information on it in either Army or Air Force records. Thanks.

Here you go Jim:

The two Korean awards are actually blue & white and have yellowed over the years.

You can't see the white edges because of the white background.
The 3 bronze stars represent three separate campaigns in Korea.
