This forum is for those working on their jeep projects to post updates and photos of their progress and obtain suggestions/advice. Try to post the bulk of your technical questions on the main Technical board. It is there that the most people can benefit from the knowledge gained.

The purpose of this forum is to help others in their project progress. Either by encouragement or advice on how to proceed.

Try to post chronologically from beginning to end and if using the website photo gallery try to keep photo file size down to 250 kb.

Ryan's tips for a fun restoration:

Always remember:
1. Take many photos before you start of all the parts of the project before disassembly and during disassembly so that you can remember how it goes back together.

2. Bag and tag all parts/bolts for later reference.

3. Take photos as your repair and put your project back together.

4. Keeping a log of the hours you work, when and what you did are handy for later reference.

5. Take notes of how you did things for later reference.

6. Accurate records - you don't want to buy a part twice or lose one so be sure to organize and store your parts as they come off.

7. Don't get discouraged. If you look at the entire project, you will be discouraged. Take it as one small project at a time. Try to do at least one thing (small or big) every day or week or month. Before you know it progress will be made.

8. Research, Research, Research - ever buy the wrong part or spend a lot of time fixing a part to find out it doesn't belong on your jeep? Well it happens all the time so spend some time here, on the web, or with other knowledgable people. Find out how they did things and what parts you need. It can save you a lot of time and MONEY.

9. Do not be afraid to ask questions. Smile

Rules for a happy marriage while restoring a vintage automobile.

1. Unless you intend to sell your project for a profit, don't add up the reciepts and your labor hours.

2. You may not want your wife to ask a lot of questions like " How much did that cost?" "How much have you spent so far?" Shocked Embarassed

3. If things get frustrating - walk away. No car show or other deadline is worth making the project more stressfull. Confused

4. Family comes first: I know this sounds funny, but when you are trying to make progress on your project it can seem like other things are slowing you down. Especially if you turned a corner on your project and you have a lot of momentum/enthusiasm.

5. It is your project, you make it what you want. Some people want a factory correct jeep and others a motor pool and others just a reliable vehicle to get around town with. We accept all types here - well maybe not rock crawlers Razz

6. Civility: we are all here as friends and we really have not had any problems to speak of on these forums. I feel we have a great group of people here and we are all here to help.

I hope these tips are of benefit to you and we all wish you the greatest success.

Ryan, Wes and everyone on willysmjeeps Cool

Keep in mind that this forum is for you to post your progress on your project. Try to keep requests for answers to technical issues, requests for parts and other announcements on the appropriate boards.

One post & thread for one project. You just add comments to your own original post/thread as you move ahead on your project.
