Somewhere along the way, someone dropped at "79 Mustang 302 in my Willys. I'd like to find a Hurricane f-head 134 i4 engine for my 1953 M38A1.
Thanks _________________ Ray Polk

Hi Ray, you might ought to do some searching and advertising in the wanted section of craigslist. I had the same problem with one of my jeeps. A1953 m38a1 with a 134L head a T84 trans and transfer. It took about a month of looking but some guy called up and had an 134F, T90, transfer and prop shafts for $600.
And he delivered it 90 miles too boot!
You might have to weed out some flakes, they're there. You'll probably get lucky finding some knot head that's going to build him a "rock crawler".
I'm looking for parts like this all the time. |

Believe it or not I found one in Salt Lake. Kind of a long honk from Ga. Search on Craigslist, salt lake, in the search bar on the left, for sale, 134 f with a space. He wants $500. I think that might be a little north. |

I would think over in your neck of the woods the Albany Ga area would be good hunting. There's guys that have been buying surplus from those MCLBs for decades. There's a guy right down the road from me that has an astounding collection of crap. Dave told me he has been buying surplus for 40 years. I know he doesn't know what he has left in there. I'd love to get in there and dig around. I've got two A2 MUTT crate motors I ran across out here, they came from Albany, and I'm out here near the left coast. |

I have family in Albany, they're on the look out. I've found a Super Hurricane (6 cyl) not sure if it would go with the T-90 transmission though. _________________ Ray Polk

If there's anybody on here that would know, it'd be Wes Koll. |

Watch your local Craigslist. F head engines seem to turn up fairly often. They are usually found by looking at Willy, Willys, Jeep. Amazing how one letter makes a difference in a search. John |

Advertise in Supply Line.
I personally know a guy with at least 5 warehouses and several fields filled with junk military jeeps. He has helped me several times. He has a 30 acre junkyard.
Here's the catch... he will only sell to MVPA members.
There are other people who feel this way too about only selling to restorers and restoration shops. The only down side is you might need to buy the whole vehicle to pull the engine.
But don't worry about a shortage... there are lots of M38A1 engines out there waiting to be rebuilt.
Surplus City may still sell ready to install rebuilt M38A1 engines. |

Did you ever find an F-head? Going to be up that way in a few weeks. Thanks, Doug |
