Hey guys, I replaced the oil line over the weekend. Before replacing when I pulled the top off of the oil filter housing the oil level was about half full. Now since replacing line when I pulled the top off the level was full, and dripped out. Not sure what the correct level should be, just want to make sure that all is working properly.

Thanks,
Martin

the tube in the center of the oil filter has a small hole in it. It allows oil to continuosly flow back to the engine after filtering but it is a small hole to keep oil pressure high. if the engine sets for a while the oil level in the housing will drain down to even with the hole. If you take it off just after a shutdown it will be full.

Ok thanks for the reply. With that being said seems to be working properly now. my cap that goes to oil filter reservoir seems to be leaking a little , I have replaced the gasket but still seems to be leaking . Is there any secrets to getting a good seal?

Thanks,
Martin

Over torquing usually makes it worse. A dis-formed lid or case can result in persistant leaks. Over the years the gasket supplied with the filter has not always been the correct gasket.

None other than the discipline of clean, smooth, flat, fit. Clean surfaces, make sure the surfaces have no defects or scratches, parts have good flat surfaces and the parts fit together correctly. I have not had an issue.
