My M38a1 will not start.
No spark at spark plugs.
Removed distributor cover everything looks OK.
Points open/close when motor cranks and points not corroded.
Distributor contacts look OK.
Have 24 volts at entering wire at coil connection.
Have 24 volts at center connection of coil.
Have continuity from spring to center point of distributor.
Also have continuity from leaving coil wiring connection thru points.
Is there any way to check the coil and condenser?
Any other ideas of what may be wrong? |

In the manual it gives specs for the condenser, but not the coil.
It notes to test the coil, replace it with known good one to perform test.
That's a little pricey.
Anyone know what the coil primary & secondary specs are? |

The coil tested out to be bad.
Couldn't figure out exactly how to test microfarid's on the condenser.
So since condenser was fairly cheap, decided to replace it.
Out of curiosity, what do you use to read microfarid's ?
Thanks again. |
