That hose is actually the oil pressure supply hose from the oil gallery to the oil filter. The return hose runs from the oil filter to the cam gear cover. A borescope is the only possible way to view it.

Yes Wes, I realise that now. I asked for one at the tools shop (the shop where you can borrow all kinds of tools) in the shipyard where I work since 32 years, but they didn´t have one. I will ask for it at the control department (do you remember the expression ”Charlie was here”) on Tuesday when I work next time. Maybe I can see the numbers then.

I've owned several borescopes over the years. Today flexible units with recording capability, lighting and swivel heads are very expensive. But I have since found a simple illuminated, fixed head bore scope that connects directly to my lap top's USB port and it's matching application that allows me much of the same recording flexibility. It was less then $75 US.

Don't know "Charlie was here."

We have one here called the "Deer in the headlights" look.

You know when you round the corner on the highway at night
and there is a deer standing in the middle of the road looking
right at you?

I get that look a lot at the local parts stores.

Sorry guys, I got the name of the guy wrong when I posted the expression very late last night. Of course it shall be "Kilroy was here". As I work/worked the last 32 years at a naval shipyard this expression is quite familiar.

Kilroy was a controller at a US shipyard during WWII and when he had checked the quality of a job in manufacturing process the wrote with a piece of blackboard chalk "Kilroy was here".

Thanks Wes for your explanation about your borescope, I'll try to borrow one.

Ah, Kilroy!

He deserves his own thread!

So finally I got hold of a nice borescope, borrowed from the mechanical test lab in the shipyard. But no further info was to get, due to the oil hose squised in covering the parts number of the fuel pump.
I will not take the pump out to see this number, I will still live in ignorance.

I will start the restoration of the transfer and tranny in the new year. My friend will be free for this job the first three months in next year. One reason for me to still work is to get some money for the restoration.

Hi guys. Long time no hear.
FINALLY I got the jeep back home on Friday afternoon, after 13 months in exil for restoration of trans and tranny. Below are some photos from the job.

Messy interior prior to renov.

Engine out!

Engine removed.

Up in the air.

Trans and tranny out.

Bad parts.

Bad oil seal seat.

Ongoing assambling.

Fresh and Clean.

I put in the older version of hand brake, to get rid of rattling and noise.

New hand brake arrangement.

And finally a test trail in the open Winter.

It was nice to have her back in the garage at this time of the year.

Even if I knew about the bad grip for the NDT tires, it sure was an experience to take her out on snowy roads. Next investment will be proper tires.

Hello Jan-Olaf,

You are using the raw URL for the page the photo is on from the URL block at the top of the page. You need the actual link to the image itself.

1 - You need to choose the thumbnail size photo you want to use.
2 - Click on that thumbnail photo once and the mid-size copy of the photo will appear.
3 - Now right click on that selected photo.
4 - Now from the drop down menu that opens select with left click "Copy image address"
5 - Now paste that link between these [img][/img]

Wes
I followed your above instructions properly, but only the link was shown in the screen.

Did you do anything now to help me out or did the web page fix it after some time to finish the job??

I corrected the links in your post for you.

The link you used was for the entire web page:

http://willysmjeeps.com/v2/modules.php?full=1&set_albumName=album453&id=Bad_parts&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php

You must use the link specific to the photo:

http://willysmjeeps.com/v2/modules/gallery/albums/album453/Bad_parts.jpg

Which browser are you using? IE Chrome or Internet Exployer etc.

When you right click on the photo you want to post the drop down menu varies, depending on the browser you are using. The instructions I posted above are for Chrome. The Micro-Soft products like Exporer require you to right click and select "Properties" from their drop down menu. Then you must copy the properties link and paste it in between these [img][/img].
