I realize few if any M-38s had bridge plates but I've noticed some are OD and some are yellow. I am wondering why the difference. Thanks in advance. _________________ 1952 M-38 # 53623 - 2-52. M 416 trailer. |

Thank you Wes. That's exactly what I wanted to know. _________________ 1952 M-38 # 53623 - 2-52. M 416 trailer. |

Billybob,
The other difference is the yellow version goes for a LOT more money than the later OD version. If you decide to pick one up just be wary of the ingenious folks out there that take an OD plate (and numbers) and paint them yellow to help you part with your cash a little faster.
regards,

Somebody posted a while back - a few years ago - about using old gallon paint can lids as the base for the plates, painting them yourself with your own stencils. Just a thought. _________________ North Shore, MA

w30b0b and whydahdvr, thank you both. Thanks to Wes and doing a little research on my own I pretty much know the difference now. I have two of the later style OD ones with the detachable numbers. The WW11 style would be very easy to make but I've heard two different sizes mentioned. I not sure which one is correct. Thanks again. _________________ 1952 M-38 # 53623 - 2-52. M 416 trailer. |
