What would a stamp of 3w with the w underlined on the block top surface under where the head gasket would go near the engine number mean? I’d post a picture but I don’t know how to meet the requirements in the faq. _________________ Gary

Very good question, it always fun trying to figure out someones code. My machine shop told me years ago that sometimes they have to mill the top of the block to get it trued up flat. They said they always take a piece of paper and pencil and rub it over the serial number so they can restamp it exactly how it was. They have been doing Willys engines for 4 or 5 generations in their shop. If the top of the block was milled and i hate guessing anything. W = 6 on the numerical code. Was the machine shop trying to say they milled off .036. Just a SWAG. A pic would be nice, maybe someone else has a better idea. Jim |
