Everybody has their favourite but what do folks think is the best Engine rebuild Manuel, either military or civilian?
Before I start on this rebuild,
Ta, Dave.

Dave, I took the liberty of moving your post from the M100 trailer page to the Technical Questions Page.

A lot depends on exactly how much of the rebuild you will be doing yourself and how much will be done by the local automotive machine shop.

Normally most hobbyist rebuilds place the machine wotk at the machine shop and the final assembly work in their garage. If this is your situation then:

For someone very experienced for at least 10 or so years in this type of work then the TM 9-1804A for the M38 and TM 9-8015-1 for the M38A1/M170 would be adequate.

In most instances the Civvy manual will often fill in the small missing info gaps in the military manuals. Willys SM 1002 for the L134 and SM 1046 for the F134.

There are other written works that are very usefull as are the many rebuild guides developed by hobbyist themselves. There is also Moses Ludel's 1946 thru 71 CJ rebuild manual.

I would also suggest you go to your profile here on the web site and add a signature element to your posts that has your first name and year/make/model of jeeps in it. Also add your location either there or along with your username in the block to the left.

Thank you Wes,
Not sure how I managed to post this on the trailer thread. Hey ho.
I had filled the signature section in years ago but must have lost it some how.

I have three of the books mentioned but still find the odd gap.
All the best,
Dave.

If you need any parts of these manuals not already loaded somewhere on the web site just send me a note.

It’s a fantastic resource Wes that I can only thank you for. Ever since I dragged this old M38 back from Greece and if I remember correctly we were over on the G503 site??? But I just love the feel and smell of the real book on the shelf.
Anyways, thank you again for this resource. I salute you sir..
I will be in Hartlepool again tomorrow where your avatar is embodied in brass.
All the best,
Dave.
