Hi folks!
As seen on most jeeps employed at the 1973 Yom Kippur war between Israel and Egypt, a certain “knife” on the front bumper was placed.
Do you have any idea of the purpose of that device?
Thanks and Happy New 2020!

No Ron,
The knife that I mean is fixed onto the front bumper. This was an asked question on another chat

Hi Ron, hi Wes!!

Bingo! this is the knife that I mean.
Another fellow of mine, who asked a Suez affair veteran about this issue, meant this knife was actually adjustable (upwards and downwards) and so used to dig a groove to insert communication wires. Another device, looking like a flat spreading plate ("shovel") was placed on the back of the vehicle and so covering the open groove and hiding the cables.

Hope this explanation makes sense...but not sure anyway!

Hints please...

Best!

Claudio

Recently purchased two new "headaches": a 1964 Kaiser M606 (high hood now undergoing resto) and a 42 Willys MB. This requires transmission parts, having trouble to find them.

Here's a good place to look for more Israeli jeep photos: https://www.gettyimages.ie/photos/israeli-jeep?mediatype=photography&phrase=israeli%20jeep&sort=mostpopular

Jeeps have been used to lay cable since WWII.

Post an album here for your M606 restoration. Many would find it very interesting on this site. Start a project on our project board for it as well:
