Hi guys,

Had a unexpected issue where a welding favour from a friend appears to have made the metal stretch on either side of the back hat channel. It looks welder was too hot and he mistakenly stitch welded the hat channel. from all initial inspections, the hats look like they are in the right place, but will not know until i can put it one the frame (couple of weeks). once confirmed, I plan to tackle the stretched floor.

I have reading and watching youtube on shrinking metal and shrinking disks, but in those cases, there was oil canning. mine are stiff, but they are definite sags of about 1/2 inch or more from back edge to hat channel. Can that be worked back with shrinking disk (and cooling) or with torch? thanks in advance.\

I have two tubs both with the original rear hat channel. They both have a depression on the floor across the whole length between the rear of the tub and where the hat channel. Are you sure it's 1/2"? Mine are more like 1/4 to 1/8". The floor has strengthening ribs so you may do more harm than good if you booger them up. Post a picture if you can.

I would post pics but they are on apple device right now. Will start bringing some in in a bit

Yes they are about 1/2 inch. There is some content about shrinking floors on a trailer but it looked backwards as to how it was done

There is also a great YouTube video on a cj but he had oilcanning
