Good Day Everyone
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your space
Here.
First off I have a question about my M38
It is a very early 1950 M38 mostly original survivor.
I know ww2 hood numbers for Jeep were usually 20 for quarter ton Recon.
Does anyone know why they used 23 on mine in 1950.

20XXXXXX is the beginning of a series. 20 thru 29 are all part of the 20 series. Here's a copy of 2 pages of AR 850-10 which was our modern 1946 rule of registration # assignment.

Yes I have that image and many others
Of M38s with 23 prefixes but just didn’t
Know the reason or call out for the “23”
