Brian,

I have a couple of NOS mirror clamps at home. I'll have a look and post a couple of pictures. I'll try to get to it tonight but it might not happen until the weekend.

None of my mirror arm clamps have spacers so a picture of what I have won’t help you.

Dave,

Since yours do not have the spacer listed in ORD 9 there must be something significantly different about them. In that sense it would be very helpful if you would post detailed photos of what you have.

Pictures of the two mirror clamps that I have. The used one that was on my Jeep when I bought it is very similar to the short on on the right. I didn't take a picture of the used mirror clamp that was on my Jeep.

I did a Google search for "M151 Mirror Arm Clamps". The images that came up look like the longer clamp in my picture.

Wes,

The one I took apart is the shorter one. I'm happy to take more pictures if you want.

Hi Dave,
I guess the main difference is the lack of a spacer on both yours, but I'd like to see a couple more photos of yours if you would please, perhaps with measurements? Yours look to be narrower and longer than mine, and one has that large divot that looks to corral the bolt somewhat (in place of a spacer?). I can take some more photos and post measurements of mine as well.

Not sure we'll ever nail this down between the possibles --- M38, M38A1, M151, and maybe even CJ's. Too many variables, too much history gone by. This is a small thing, but I hate to see yet another post left flapping in the breeze with no answer in sight.

Perhaps a few other members will post what they've seen and have as well. Like Wes says, a photo is worth a thousand words. Very Happy

Dave,

A direct size comparison (Both disassembled clamps in the same photo) is what I was hoping for. It appears both your lower clamps are off the M151 style mirror arms.

Here's the M151 -34P

This should clear things up. Some with bushings and some without.

Awesome Wes! Thanks!

Fiber spacer is factory, then for service replacement use a steel spacer. Hard to imagine that I found an original factory spacer after all these years.

Where did you find the engineering drawing? I suspect 45Auto's gold mine? It's a wonderful thing to definitively answer the question. What a forum this is! The facebook nonsense crowd can't touch this kind of information sharing!

1 - Yes, 2 - Isn't it! 3 - Yes it is! 4 - I am already getting tired of rescuing them over there.
