Greetings,
I am a new member to the site and just purchased an M-38 that has is in pieces and boxes. I spent the past two years rebuilding an M-37 and found a site similar to this one for that vehicle. The knowledge base on these sites is second-to-none for someone like me rebuilding an old war horse. I look forward to the next couple years as I start soon on the M-38 and know I will be looking for help / info. as I go.

Welcome to the group. All of the appropriate manuals for the M38 are available on this site. What a great resource. This site has helped me a tremendous amount on my rebuilds. Do not overlook the wealth of information also available in the photo gallery.

If you can build an M37 you can definitely build an M38; all the M series parts are the same or very similar. Carb is very similar vacuum operated type. All M series wiring is the same.
Remember, without pictures, it didn't happen!
Get a complete set of TMs and study them daily for a month before you touch it. Also get the green book, M38 Reference Guide; it is a super book and no M38 owner can live without it. Actually get that first.

Dennis,
Welcome to the forum. I have done an M38 and live near College Station. I have found Mullins at College Station to be a good supplier and if you need several items it is probably worth the drive. Good luck with your M38.

Hi Dennis, and welcome!
It looks like you bought a pretty good M38 to start with.
And that shade tree is rather nice too! Very Happy
Good luck!

P.S. And hey, it's upright on wheels. That's not a "basket case" where I'm from. Not even close. Laughing

Not only that, I see lots of stuff many restorers end up looking for later, that are already on site!

Air cleaner, lifting hooks and windshield stand out!

Hi Dennis.
Your M38 looks fantastic with many of the military goodies still in place.

Closeup pictures are always exciting. Maybe you already have most of the hard to find original ($$) stuff.

From the bumper to the tail lights.... and tell us about that carb Cool
The more you show the more info will pop up in comments.
