Anyone have a source for the above party?

I have been told to make it out of a file folder, but that is not my preferred method.

Evidently this gasket for the m38 is bigger.

Thank you,

trip

They can be difficult to find at times. If you google the three part numbers ORD# 7375346 or the Ross Gear# TA129000 you find nothing in stock. If you google the WO# 644537 you get hits on several suppliers charging between $1.50 at Mullins and $2.95 at Walcks.

Fabricating your own from quality material has been done for years. A very good choice is Felpro 3060 kit: https://www.drivparts.com/part-details.html?brand_code=BCWV&part_number=3060&part_name=%7B2%7D

Hi Trip,
I don't recall seeing a source for new ones, but could've missed it.
Recall sometimes seeing NOS on fleabay, but not often.

I finally made one, not hard to do tracing it from the cover.
I didn't make it from a file folder or other scrap. I'm not that hard up (yet).

Spent $10 for a pack of FelPro gasket paper at the local auto parts store.
Enough to make all I'll ever use.

Good luck!

Thanks to all for the help. I had gasket material and made a copy from that.

However during the take down of the steering gear box and inspection, I did notice the original gasket was very thin similar to a manila file folder..

I did not understand the "Ball Peen Hammer" reply.

Again, thanks for the knowledge.

Trip,
I believe Brian is referring to Hammer Tapping the gasket material after laying it on the surface of the box to form an indent of the edge in the gasket paper.

Thanks Wes,

I will try that as it seems like it would work.

Yes, one of the uses of the round end of a ball pein hammer is to make gaskets. Get it close in size, then lay the material on the piece, then tap lightly all around the material around the outside and inside edges of the part. Then tap where the holes are.

The gasket material will become readily shaped and if done right, will be ready to use with little cleanup.
