Been roaming around and wanted to get your guys opinion. Soft top vs hard top. I know the hard top is more secure, soft can flap, and is more easily taken down. Also hard top great for snow, since it wont sag under the weight. What is your guys experiences and preference ? I have heard the hard top is a lot louder to drive in, and the canvas tops can be as warm as the hard tops.

Hard tops echo causing them to be noisier.

Hard tops are more difficult to install & remove.

The M38A1 hardtop doors are wood. Not very nice.

Which keeps you warmer depends on two things. 1:Where you live and when you drive it. 2:Which type heater you have in it. Gas heater with canvas full winter top will handle 20 below easily.

Are you looking to buy one? Hard tops can be found but rather expensive to ship.
The only plus I see on a hard top is the small bit of security, but then again nothing is secure.
Soft tops are more modular. You can run just only the top. The top and side curtains. Or top, sides and doors.
When not in use, my whole getup folds up and takes up hardly any real estate. Mine doesn't flap at all while driving. The treated canvas is pretty heavy weight unlike a lighter vinyl fabric. If it does move, the canvas dampens the noise itself, if that makes sense.
Also soft tops just look better and smell better in my opinion. Wink
