I've recently replaced the parking brake shoes on my 1952 M38A1 and it seems like no matter what I do I can't adjust the shoes to where they are not rubbing on the drum especially when I turn left or right. Sounds like they are rubbing against the drum when I turn. Anyone have any ideas?
Turning left & right shouldn't affect the stock brake at all. Do you have the stock M38A1 parking brake on the back output of the transfer case? _________________ Wes K

Hi,
If the link is to tight sitting flat and you get any body roll when turning, it will
pull up on the link and cause the shoes to grab more. Send me a photo of the shoes please. You can do this from the Midwest Military website. There were some shoes that got out in the market with a small issue. Easy fix, just need to see what you have first.

It would be nice to share this oddity with this web site. That is what we have the site for. _________________ Wes K
