Who has the paint and what shade is it that some parts are painted.? Got a NOS M978 Gasoline heater and the paint on it and the duct work I'd like to find. It's not WW11 olive drab nor is it semi gloss olive drab. I read somewhere that some one took the time to match this color and had it reproduced by a paint company.

You should add your jeep model to your signature so we will always know what model jeep you are discussing.

Paint color depends on jeep model and date of manufacture and for parts not installed at Willys the color depends on manufacturer and date of manufacturer.

As far as OD goes (this response does not address USMC Green, Navy Gray or AF Blue):

Willys/Kaiser used OD2430 throughout M38, M38A1 & M170 production

The Army switched from WWII OD to 24087 around 1955 and most of their contracts for spares and accessories dictated the use of that color from then on.

So to paint a Willys/Kaiser Factory Class M38, M38A1 or M170 and their Willys/Kaiser factory parts use OD 2430.

For parts & accessories provided by other manufacturer under Army contract:

1946 thru 1950 Use WWII OD 319 or equivalent
1949 thru 1955/56 Use OD 2430
1956 thru 1971 use OD 24087

Just Google the paint designation you need and you will find several suppliers right away.

http://www.tm9ordnance.com/products.htm carried all three

https://www.armyjeepparts.net/t-GCI_paint.aspx Gillespie lists their late WWII OD as their closest match to OD 2430. It is just a wee bit light.
