I've rebuilt my T90 and have just received the parts
to rebuild my D18 transfer.

During this process I've used Rick Stivers'guides,
Moses Ludel's Jeep Rebuild Guide, the manuals here,
and hours and hours of digging through members' pages
and photographs.

I've leaned on Oilly so much I'm expecting to find one day
he has finally had enough and blocked me!

Just kidding John.

The point is this. When you are tearing a tranny or transfer
down for the first time and you send a bud some photos to
help decide what needs replacing, and they tell you which ones
to kick to the curb, do it.

After I received the new tranny gears and synchro parts,
and compared them with the takeouts, it was easy to see what
was right and what was wrong. Guys like John and others who
have ripped a bunch of these down know just what to look for.

I just opened my box from Pete DeBella and compared a couple
of more gears with ones out of my transfer. Another good call.

I really don't want to spend any more money than necessary getting
the jeep running, but these were terminal. Again a clean call from my
resource and eternal gratitude from me for browbeating me into doing
the right thing.

If you don't know, ask.

If you get an answer from someone you know works on these a lot
and for whom you have respect for, do as they suggest, and thank them.

Thank you John. Hopefully one day we can eat some trail dust together.
