Help Needed Reading the ORD 9

Hi Guys,

I need a little help understanding what the ORD is telling me. I'm trying to find the manufacturer's part number for the wiper motor for my 55 A1. According to the ORD, in Group 22, sec 2202, pg 370, the original wiper motor was a Trico 63527, Ordinance PN 7375389. This was superseded by Ordinance PN 500844. It doesn't say when it was superseded, but what I need to know is what does it mean when there's a new Ord part number but no corresponding changed manufacturer's part number. It just shows a dashed line in that column? Why is there no Trico number listed? I see this done a lot, but don't now what the dashed line is supposed to mean when parts get superseded. Can anyone shed some light on this?

ORD #'s often represent more than one manufacturer and sometimes more than one manufacturer's part number. The answer to your questions lay in a huge many volume Supply Manual set that has several million numbers in it. Very few are available and even fewer people are here to help us interpret them.

In a small way be thankful you at least have the manufacture's PN for the factory installed wiper unit.

This has always bee an issue with Ordnance part numbers, ordnance stock numbers and federal stock numbers or NSN's. They are the supply requisition number used by supply to find the part you need which may be manufactured by several manufacturers using the same specifications but a different manufacturer's part number. Most equipment specific ORD 9's would only list the manufacturer's part number that was installed at the factory by the equipment/vehicle OEM.

During the 22 years I used the military supply system I would often want only a specific manufacturer's part number and I would specifiy "NO SUBS" & "Requisition by Manufacturer's Part Number" in my order request.
