Surprised Does anyone know where I can obtain the channel where the canvas top slides on the windshield for a 1952 m38A1? Somewhere along the line part of it got removed from the windshield.

Kevin, I moved this from Photo Album Questions board to our Wanted board where I am sure you will get a much better response. Wes K

Try to post the part numbers of parts that you want. Helps insure everyone is on the same page and you don't get offered the wrong part. You can find the part numbers, both Willys/Kaiser and US Army ORD # in the ORD 9 SNL G-740 which is the parts manual for the M38. If you do not have a copy they can be downloaded in PDF format for free on our downloads page. All the maintenance manuals are there as well.

The part number for your windshield's Retainer, top to windshield is Willys 670935 and Army ORD# 7697544.

If you google the Willys 670935 you will get a hit on this page where your retainer is $45 brand new.

I don't have an Ord 9 for the A1 to see if their the same number.

The A1's windshield channel is curved not flat like the M38's.

I broke down and looked the ORD9 up on line, the a-1 retainer has a different number G758-8329756 or WO 680128.

One of the big Jeep parts dealers has them advertised in the magazines. I'll see if I can find them.

Update: I did a quick search but didn't locate the part. If I were you, I would call the major dealers and ask - I HAVE seen them advertised recently, so I know one of them has it. I just can't tell you which one.

The part is called a windshield channel or windshield rope channel or something like that - I was looking for one years ago to put on my w/s frame that someone modified to install a sears hard top. I sold the top and windshield when I decided to restore back to original - kinda wish I would've kept it now!
