Hello. I am about to make a gasket (642770) for between the shifter column box and the top of the T90 transmission. The previous owner only used RTV so I don't have an old gasket to compare. I live in Canada and although a new gasket is only $2, it will cost $25 to ship it here.....So, my question is how thick is this gasket? Is it a paper thin one or is it about the thickness of a cereal box?

My new gasket was about match book thickness...a little thicker than paper thin and i used gasket sealer spread thin on the gasket and case when putting the shifter on.

I just used a manila folder as a gasket and indian head shellac.
Its easy to make a template, just place a piece of printer paper over the case opening and run a slightly dirty finger over the edges. It will show up enough that you can cut it out and transfer that to your gasket material of choice.

Or another method is to place the gasket material layed on the housing opening that you intend to seal and go around tapping the edges with a peen. This will cut it as you go along. Sometimes its hard to hold it in place though doing it this way.
