I must be doing something wrong.

I have done numerous searches for several topics and really don't get any pertinent responses.
I have used the search just above this and the one at the left.

I keep getting responses from members that state that the topic is covered in previous posts, but I am not finding them.

For instance, if I search for "M38a1 rifle rack", I get a lot of hits but really nothing about this topic, except my original post.
I went thru 3 pages and there was not one relevant item.

Try using a key word. scabbard, rack, carbine or such. Searching M38A1 whatever is hitting you w/everything with that term and that's a lot to wade thru. keep it simple.. The keyword scabbard yields 14 posts on the subject.

Also, try doing a Goggle search with "willysmjeeps" along with the key terms you are searching for.

When you use the above, be sure and check
Search For All Terms.

This is what I get, and I believe thoroughly covers
the subject.

Not having spell check turned on (and for me --- not knowing how to spell all the time) ----(and then typing with my elbows) doesn't help much either..... Shocked

There must be well north of 50,000 posts on this forum since it was created. A gold mine of true knowledge! But one has to do some serious sifting to find the true nuggets. Very Happy Even then, plenty of cross-checking is in order.

Of course, an easy way is just to ask Wes, but that can spoil you PDQ. Shocked

Endeavor to persevere.

Wes is glad to help, but not eager to do all of the lifting for you,
imho. I don't blame him.

The information here is a monumental effort by several, and more
work by many others. Looking for info is still research. You have to
think outside the box at times.

Just like eBay, change, delete or add terms, and all kinds of
interesting things pop up.

"What about the one on the left?"
"I didn't pay him no mind. You were there..."

Hi Guys,

I was going to ask what Restomod did...just haven't gotten around to it yet. I find the same thing...........I type in a keyword in the search and it gives you back tons of posts......but most don't even have the keyword in them. It's by far the weirdest "search" tool I've ever used. And I'm not knocking this site.........I love it. There's SO much info on here it's amazing. Finding it is another matter.

I tend to think it's a common problem on all the internet forum sites and no one has found a good way to solve the problem. Over on the G741 site I asked the moderators to make stickies for things people kept asking and asking over and over.........like what to do if it runs for a few minutes and dies........those types of things. I haven't been over there much since getting my A1, but hopefully they're working it. In that regard you guys are ahead of the curve. But the search here is..........shall we say.........umm........."interesting"?

;O)

regards,
bob

This is a very old version of their software.

Read the last line on each page:

Ryan and I have been at this web site stuff since 2004. But we are not computer techs. Ryan is a Veterinarian and I am an Airplane Mechanic. I started out in 96 visiting the web and viewing the G503 board. I quickly found it was a G503 world and started my own Yahoo M38 group. I met Ryan in 2004 at jeep show in Jefferson MO and we pooled our resources and launched this site. At that time Ryan's brother-in-law was close by and provided the computer tech support and server space. The site has survived with the small profits from Ryan's M38 Rebuild Guide and begging for tech help & server space. We have often pleaded here for a computer geek or two to step up to the plate and roll their sleeves up and take over the tech side of the house with no takers.

To implement a newer version of the software we need technical help, and server space.

With that said we have learned to work with what we have. To search for relative postings use the search function at the TOP of the page or use Google. Be careful what you use for search terms and when using this site's search function carefully check the correct boxes!

I usually just use google. A way to use google to search our site is to open the google search page and type in, for example,

This will be your first hit on google usually:

So, everything else checks out, but what should an NOS M38a1 front spring arch measure? I asked the guy what the width of the springs are, but he didn't have that written down. I recently acquired some take-off leaf springs to replace my existing worn out leaf springs on my 1953 M38a1. I've been on this group for many years and never tried using Google to search this site! I don't know why either - I use it to search Steel Soldiers a good bit. I guess I have always been able (mostly) to find the answer I need by using the search button and if that doesn't provide what I'm looking for, I'll search the net.
