Thank you Wes for posting pictures of the YS-950 Carb parts in a past post.
This was my first YS-950 rebuild and as you know the new kits don't come with any paperwork at all. I downloaded the carb instructions, but they are not very clear to see and very simple in their discriptions.
I got to the Metering Rod and Pump springs and didn't know which one went where (they are very close in size). While studying your pictures I noticed the little short round pin in line with the metering rod and the light bulbs when off. I had seen that little pin it in the kit and dismissed it as a piece of junk metal (my carb didn't have that piece, the rod was just floating loose).
With springs where they belong and the pin in place I installed the card and the engine fired right up and made 50# of oil pressure. I let it run for about 20 minutes, with a big grin on my face!
Thanks again for all you do!

I am such a putz. I have searched Wes' photo album and done a forum search and cannot find his photo of the 950 carb that shows the breakdown of the pump and metering rod sides of the carb. The photo where Wes has all the parts laid out in sequence and has written in the dimensions of the springs and diaphrams and such.
I assume a person could get the springs in wrong, but could a person get the diaphrams and/or housings in wrong?
Wes, if you see this could you post the photo I am trying to describe? Thanks. _________________ Steve Stark - 1955 M38A1 MD #85388

Thanks, Wes! I've download these photos into my M38A1 service folder.
I think I might have mistakenly swapped the metering rod spring and the accelerator pump spring when I did my rebuild. I seem to remember a different photo where you had placed all the parts in sequence arranged in order outside of both sides of a carb body. I know there is a drawing like this in the manual, but this other photo I'm think of was much clearer than the manual. At any rate, the photos you have already provided above will work. Maybe I am dreaming of there being another photo.
I also think that I may have put the bleeder tube in upside-down. _________________ Steve Stark - 1955 M38A1 MD #85388

The photo I am thinking of was pretty similar to the drawing in the upper right of the figure you just posted....except it was a photo of actual parts with hand-written descriptions and dimensions on the photo. I must be dreaming.
Like I said before, the photos you have already posted will help me immensely. Thank you! _________________ Steve Stark - 1955 M38A1 MD #85388
