So I took the tires off the m38 and I noticed that the left hand thread drivers side lugs appear to be like copper colored under the paint but not the passengers side. Am I just not seeing them correctly or is there some game plan to that. Didn’t find anything on the search or google. Thanks John jr _________________ 52 m38
Depends on the current manufacturers. Some like to mark them with an L, some like to cad or otherwise coat them to look different along side the right hand ones & others are willing to wait and see how long it takes the operator to realize that they won't thread on the wrong side.
If you look up the parts in the ORD 9 you'll see that originally the left handed nut was Parkerized whereas the right hand nut was not. Original late 40's/early 50's Parkerizing looked gray or greenish. (Page 256 of the M38 ORD 9) _________________ Wes K

Yes. Remember that was 1956. The government coddles us a lot more today! Coddle is a political term for control the people! _________________ Wes K
