Hi Guys,
Picked up the whole radio thing (PRC-10/AM-598/Power Feed kit/MT-759, antenna mounts, speaker, handset, etc, etc, at Aberdeen, minus one cable....I'll get to that in a minute. First, the Power Feed Kit is NOS, but it didn't have the instructions. I looked in the Download section here and on the web and didn't find them. Anybody know where the install instructions are?
Second, I wasn't able to get the power cable that runs from the Power Feed receptacle to the face of the AM-598. On the bigger radios this isn't a single cable, as it come from the rat's nest of cables going to the junction box under the MT-299 or whatever larger mount you use. I want to go directly from the Power Feed (which is a 3-Pin female like on the voltage regulator connection) to the 5-Pin female on the face of the AM-598 power supply. So the cable I need is male to male. No one I talked to remembered a cable like that, but I did learn the male 3-pin that plugs into the Power Feed receptacle is a straight connector, while the other end that plugs into the AM-598 is a 90 degree. I did look thru the radio install download on here, but the notes are a bit small and not that clear, at least on my monitor, and I didn't see a sole PRC-10 installation. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I have the same radio setup on my M-38. Have you tried contacting Fair Radio? www.fairradio.com They have a lot of the old radios and parts. _________________ 1951 M38
There is no 5 pin connector on the AM-598.You need the 3 pin male connector for the power socket to a 4 pin male for the AM 598.fair may have the connectors if you call them but I doubt they have any complete cables with connectors.

Hi Rad,
Well.........sort of. There's a larger center alignment pin and 4 equa-distant smaller pins all 90 degrees apart........so I call that a 5-Pin. Technically I think you're right......so my bad.
I looked around and it looks like what I need is a CX-13306. Has the 3 pins on the receptacle side and the 4 (or 5 depending how you look at it) that plugs into the AM 598 power supply.
Checked my A1 and the bracket for the power receptacle isn't there next to the seat........will look at it closer tomorrow.
You can find the instructions for installation of the special equipment kit for radio M38A1 in Change 3 to TM 9-8015-2 Starts at Paragraph 280 on page 1 "Section II. Radio Power Feed.
The kit includes the L bracket next to the passenger seat and the harness to the battery.
Most of the drawings I have for the PRC installs on the M38A1 use a junction box for the standard 3 pin power plug termination then run a new 4 pin harness from the junction box to the PRC.
The drawing you can use for the M38A1 PRC install is SC-D-28685
The harness for the Amp/PS 598 is item 16 Cable Asst CX-2031/U
